Christmas is coming!

Christmas Menu

It’s that time of year again. Christmas parties, excessive sherry drinking (just me?) and too many mince pies. To get you feeling festive we’ve ditched our usual lunchtime/pre-theatre special in favour of a Christmas dinner. We’ll be doing a set menu of 3 courses for £20 from Thursday 23rd November.

This festive menu will be up for grabs throughout lunch and dinner, alongside the full a la carte menu:

Roast parsnip soup, cumin yogurt (v) or Salt cod brandade. --- Turkey ballotine - boned and rolled turkey leg with chestnut stuffing, braised red cabbage, bread sauce and cranberry gravy. --- Mincemeat sticky toffee pudding, brandy butter ice cream.

We currently have plenty of space available for bookings throughout December. A corner of the restaurant makes a great place for a smaller team Christmas lunch or for entertaining clients. Private evening hire can also be arranged for groups of up to 34. Give us a call if we can help with anything.

Winter Wine List

We’ve changed around some wines too, with a few more fuller-bodied reds ‘by-the-glass’ to get you through these darker months. We’ve added a lovely Portuguese red from the Douro valley produced by Symington (the famous Port house). I’m feeling a big love for all things Portuguese after a recent trip to Porto and this organic wine - called Altano -  is absolutely delicious. It's rich, quite full-bodied and spicy, but super-smooth and will be dreamy with dishes such as the ox cheek.

To our by-the-glass choices, we’ve also added an elegant, silky red Burgundy; a classic Pinot Noir from Domaine Tollot-Beaut. It has plenty of strawberry and cranberry flavours with just a touch of oak. Good pinot noir kinda starts with wines like this; textbook Bourgogne Rouge. Addictive stuff. Treat yourself; it’s Christmas!

There are a few other exciting changes (did someone say January refurb?) on the horizon for JB, so watch this space… Emily

P.S. Thanks to Peter at Rococo Chocolates for lending us his photography skills, his festive back-drop Christmas tree... aaaaand the brownie! x
