The idea behind the restaurant is simple - top quality food and drink in a comfortable and relaxed environment, prepared with honesty and integrity and served with care and attention. Open all day, Joseph Benjamin evolves from serving coffee and breakfast at 9am to lunch at 12, cafe again at 3pm and then, on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday, becomes an intimate, candle-lit restaurant and bar.
Passionately averse to the pretentiousness and fussiness of many new restaurant developments Ben and Joe are personally immersed in every aspect of the restaurant - head Chef Joe taking care of all things kitchen-related and Ben managing ‘front of house’ and 'doing the books' in his sleep.
Joe and his team put together a short menu of locally and seasonally focussed dishes that changes completely every few weeks and is broadly described as modern-British-European.
Joseph Benjamin was awarded a prestigious 'Bib Gourmand' in the 2013 and 2014 Michelin Guides.
The restaurant dining room seats approximately 35 people, with a good balance of quiet corners for two and comfortable tables for small groups (maximum 8 people).
Reservations can be made for lunch (12-3, Tues – Sunday) or for dinner (6-9.30pm Thurs, Fri, Sat).
We close at 5pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Closed all day on Mondays.
